AI-assisted development doesn’t start with buying licences.

It starts with a healthy process — and I have built that foundation twice. AI SDLC transformation, technical audit, fractional CTO. Behind that, 22 years in engineering: the #1 digital bank in its region, Wise, Visa Europe, Kaspersky Lab, Apple.

Approach

Development gets AI last

Not “hand everyone an agent”, but the opposite: AI goes first into feature preparation and planning — and only last into writing code. Delivery roughly 2x on greenfield and +60% on brownfield; overtime and incidents nearly gone.

Foundation first

The transformation worked because DDD, docs-as-code and team-wide artefact review were already in place. I introduced them earlier — while turning around two stalled replacement projects, processing and anti-fraud.

Speed comes from process, not tooling

With a team built from scratch, a working end-to-end digital-banking PoC in 10 weeks — no AI involved. Fast delivery was the norm long before agents.

AI SDLC transformation

Flagship

I invert the order of adoption: development gets AI last.

AI goes first into feature preparation and planning: agents break down grooming artefacts, speed up documentation review, and generate tasks, diagrams and test cases straight from artefacts. The method is BMAD layered on top of DDD and docs-as-code.

What you get: quarter planning dissolves into the ordinary process; delivery roughly 2x on greenfield and +60% on brownfield; overtime and incidents almost disappear.

02

Technical audit / due diligence

An honest read before you invest in, acquire, or take responsibility for an engineering organisation: architecture, delivery process, team and risk — a prioritised picture of strengths and of the work required to fix the rest, in plain language and with the reasoning shown.

03

Fractional / interim CTO

Senior engineering leadership without a permanent hire: technical direction, hiring and growing the team, a healthy delivery process, and the architectural calls that are hard to walk back. Part of the week, or for a fixed term.

04

Team and lead mentoring

I mentor engineers and leads the way I grew ten leads from my own team — on real work: a steady process, explicit requirements, and decisions made through ADR and RFC.

05

Corporate lectures and workshops

Talks, workshops and corporate courses drawn from real transformations: AI-assisted development, DDD, docs-as-code — what worked, what failed and why. No hype, no vendor pitch.

Turnaround

Processing and anti-fraud

Two vendor-replacement projects that had produced nothing — 2.5 years on anti-fraud, 13 months on processing — turned into steady delivery with almost no rework.

End-to-end digital banking PoC

A team built from scratch shipped a working end-to-end digital-banking PoC in 10 weeks — no AI — straight in the target architecture. The Minimum Lovable Product is passing the central bank audit.

About me

Architecture, delivery process and people

My work sits where the three meet; in recent years AI has joined all of them. For nearly three years I have led mobile development at the #1 digital bank in its region, and step by step took on the wider digital banking platform, processing and anti-fraud. The release cadence went from once every one or two months to daily releases.

Career — 22 years

2023 — present

The #1 digital bank in its region. Head of mobile development; digital banking platform, processing and anti-fraud. The team grew from 10 to about 200 people.

2022 — 2023

International defense contractor. Development group lead; R&D centre of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Herzliya (project under NDA).

2021 — 2022

Wise. Head of mobile development — a single app for all markets.

2020 — 2021

Visa Europe. Lead of the iOS development group and deputy Android lead in Visa’s crypto-application lab.

2017 — 2020

Kaspersky Lab. Lead developer; talks at Kaspersky Dev&Night, internal courses.

2015 — 2017

Contract development. Information systems for banks, insurers and franchises across the US and Europe, including KFC.

2013 — 2015

Apple (contractor). Senior developer on the Calendar app.

2007 — 2013

MTS, Russia. Telecom in every form: billing, digital PBX and Asterisk, monitoring a network of 15,000 switches, support CRM.

2004 — 2007

Embedded C. Software engineer in manufacturing.

“AI pays off only where a healthy process sits underneath it. Build the foundation — and AI compounds it.”
